Northern Lights

Though not commonly observed at low latitudes, I have seen the aurora on a number of occassions during the very active solar sunspot cycles that occur approximately every 11 years. Recent peaks of solar activity were 1989 and 2000; so stay tuned for 2011–2012.

Solar Eclipse

I have a number of spots to pick from for the next total solar eclipse to be seen in the United States. It will be on 21 August 2017. Stay tuned for the photos. An incredibly useful web site with 5000 years of data of solar eclipses.
