Aerial Landscapes Photo Gallery

Views of the earth from above can be inspiring whether flying on a commercial flight at high altitude or low-altitude flying in airplanes, balloons, or paragliding.

On a flight from Chicago to Paris, I shot these photos high over the Atlantic Ocean along the southern edge of Greenland. Numerous icebergs dot the ocean surface below.

Though I have not yet done so, taking flight in a hot air balloon would be a great way to view the landscape from above. Here the Colorado state flag emblazens a hot air balloon at a festival in Fort Collins, CO at sunrise.

Perhaps the most personal way to take to the skies is by strapping on a parachute on a hilltop and letting a nice mountain breeze lift you off the ground. At this site atop Le Puy de Dome, near Clermont-Ferrand, France paragliders float rather effortlessly in the sky as the sun slowly sets in the distance.

On a commercial flight to Denver, there was a major jet fuel fire at Stapleton Airport. The plane landed and we got an amazing view of the inferno near the runway.
